Data is one of the most valuable things in the world due to information’s power to change people’s lives, make companies rich, and revolutionize technology. These are some reasons why everyone should treat data as if they were in a love relationship with it. When someone is in a relationship, they want to do their best for the other person, take care of them, and feel good when they are with them. All these concepts can be applied when dealing with data, wants the best for the other, so wants the best for the data, needs to take care of the other, so needs to take care of the data, therefore avoiding problems and feeling good with it.
Let’s go deep into this subject of falling in love with data:
Be married to your data
When someone is married, they try to spend as much time as possible with each other and learn new things together every day. Data is something that needs care also, because sometimes it is messy, and someone can’t get any insights or business decisions from it. Get to know better the information available or create new information from the existent one is an important task for everyone that works with data. It is essential for a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer to understand the expectations of customers about results and be “annoying” about every little detail to get the best results possible. As a relationship can be hard sometimes, dealing with the input, understanding all the results required, and how the client will use the product from the data, it is not easy, but this is something that needs to be done in the best way possible and will make a huge difference in professional life further.
Take care of it as if it were the most important person in your life
Dealing with data also means dealing with money and people’s lives. All of these things matter, and it’s important to know how important people’s jobs with data are, because with power comes great responsibility. Companies like Google and Meta are so powerful nowadays due to the amount and kind of data they have, and no one knows better how important it is to take care of data as if it were the person you love the most. You should love information when dealing with it. This is the most powerful thing in the world. If you love it, you can make the best decisions, whether for business or something else, and great results will come from it.
When people are in love with someone, things usually get easier. Everything you do is with the best intentions, this is the reason why everyone should fall in love with data, make things easier, and if it is hard as a relationship can be sometimes, try until it works.
